Bedroom Decoration – Do’s and Don’ts

From the time we wake up in the morning, we dream to come back to our lovely bed as soon as possible. That important is the bedroom for all. So it’s normal to put effort to make it the coziest room in the house and to spend a long time decorating it.

Of course, the interior is a personal choice, but there are some recommendations on what to do and don’t do when it’s time to decorate your bedroom.

Let’s start with the do’s

You can put on a rug that is bigger than the bed. This will give the illusion of a bigger room. The rug should match the other colors and designs used in the room. You can save a lot of space when you choose space-saving furniture like for example bed that has storage. This way you will keep your things and clothes there, and don’t put on a big wardrobe which will take up space in the room.

The newest trend in bedroom decoration is adding a feature wall. It’s super cool and even you can do it by yourself. It’s a good idea to create a feature wall behind the bed with wallpaper, panels, or paint colors. If that’s not your piece of cake, consider another idea. Use vertical space and hang bedroom decorations such as lights, paintings, and bookshelves.

Don’t forget about the mirrors which are great interior detail for darker bedrooms. Mirrors reflect the lights and make the room brighter.

Recommendations on what not to do

Let’s start with something very important. Don’t follow certain design ideas detail by detail. This would be cool, but there is no guarantee that you won’t be disappointed if something goes wrong. Use your creativity and take into account the conditions of your bedroom.

Another thing that we included in our don’ts recommendation is to not match everything. If you buy a whole bedroom set with a bed and furniture you might feel like you sleep in IKEA. Check different combinations between nightstands, beds, and details before you make a final decision.

For many people the bedroom should be the most relaxing room in the house, so we advise you to not overuse decorations that don’t match the other things. This will make the bedroom looks cutter and not well-organized.

Don’t overfill the bedroom with unnecessary large furniture. Leave space for air. That’s why before you put the furniture, plan what is the best way to do that and leave space around. Lighting is also an important thing to consider. This is also a question of taste, but we suggest you don’t install many kinds of light and choose one or two options.

We hope our small list of do’s and don’ts will help you to create the most suitable bedroom interior design for you. Focus more on the purpose of the bedroom, because trends will pass, but the comfort will stay. There are no rules and you can use all the creativity you have and achieve the perfect design for you.
